Book of Mormon marathon
I was able to participate in a totally awesome experience.
We held a Book of Mormon marathon with the youth (12-18)
where we read the entire book in about 25 hours. It was
long and hard at some points and us leaders wanted to pound
some of the youth. But overall we hope they had a good
experience. We had people come in and speed read, we
used a computer to speed read, tried to have a friendly
competition between girls and boys who could read aloud
3 pages the fastest, and then had some guests come in
and read for us. We had Nephi, King Benjaman, Ammon,
A Stripling warrior, and the brother of Jared visit. I only
got pictures of the brother of Jared and the Stripling warrior.
It was a very tiring activity, but I know for me personally,
it was a huge testimony builder. I had a special experience
that the youth did not have. We started this whole thing Fri.
night at 5 pm. read until 11 pm. We came back at 6 am and
read all the way till 10:30 pm Sat. night when we finished it.
Well, right after dinner on Sat. I got very sick suddenly. I was
in the bathroom losing my dinner and my insulin levels were
out of control and I was shaking so bad. I wasn't sure if I was
going to pass out. I was really scared. I finally asked for our
bishop to give me a blessing. As he did, he promised me that
if I had the faith I would be healed immediately and would be
able to finish this out. As he was saying the words, I could feel
my body starting to relax. A few minutes after he was done, I
was so much better. Just a short time later as I went back in to
finish reading we were reading about the brother of Jared. It
talks about the great faith that he had and with that great faith
he was able to see the Lord, nothing was held back any longer.
I do not have the faith of the brother of Jared, but I saw that I
do have some and if I am faithful and continue to work at it, maybe
I can at least see the finger of the Lord. I have a greater appreciation
for the scriptures now and a greater desire to read it more.

He couldn't take it any more. The spirit was so
overwhelming.
