Utah or BUST!!
Many of you have been wondering if we made our
move to Utah okay. We did. Our drive here was
way better than I expected. Hardly any fighting
and only 2 stops (one for gas and potty, the other
for food & potty).
Our house is different. When I very first saw it,
I wondered what Rhett had gotten us into. BUT, it
has really, really grown on me. I like it a lot now.
The house was built in 1902 (107 yrs). The walls are
concrete and brick, about 1 foot thick. Solid! It has
3 floors. The main floor has a nice updated, spacious
kitchen. Then a dining/living area with a fireplace. Now
we had to change things a little, the dining area was
TINY (6' x 3'). So we put a couch in that spot and put
our large dining table in the living room area. We had
to do this at our other house too, so no big surprise we
had to do it here too. Now in the kitchen as you walk
towards 2 bedrooms there is an old wood stove that helps
to heat the house. It really adds to the personality of
the house. Now upstairs is really the attic that they
converted into 2 bedrooms and a loft area. One of the
bedrooms has built in dressers and a window seat. Super
cute! Now with the way the lay out of the house is, we
are going to do something we said we would NEVER do. We
are going to get a 2nd T.V. and put a small couch, bean
bags upstairs in the loft so the kids can have some kid
time. They will only be able to watch movies though.
Now the basement. We have made this Rhett and I's area.
This house does not have a master bedroom and most of
the bedrooms do not have closets. There is only 2 bath-
rooms also, one on the main floor and one in the basement.
So, Rhett and I took the bedroom and bathroom in the
basement and are making it into our own master suite.
There is an odd little room down here too that I think
they called a cold food storage room, we are turning
that into a walk in closet for us. Both bathrooms are
pretty small, but the kids got the slightly bigger one.
It's hard to explain things and have you get a mental
image of it. So when I get things more in order, I will
get some pics and post them.
The weather has been incredibly beautiful. The kids have
been playing so hard outside, even with the 1 hour time
difference, they are crashing hard at night. We are actually
getting to experience Fall. Cool weather, leaves changing
color (holy cow, so awesome), leaves falling in the breeze.
The other day the boys found our broom and made a pile of
leaves and was playing in them, covering each other in them.
I so wanted to take a picture of them, but didn't know where
the camera had landed. We are supposed to get our first snow
tomorrow amd Wednesday. The kids are SOOOOO excited about it!
I have found the camera and WILL take pictures of that!!
There is so much more I could say, I don't want to ramble
and bore you my readers. So far things are going well, the
kids have adjusted pretty good in school, made some friends.
In fact, Dallin and Jensen are in the same class and there is
another Dallin R. in the class. Too funny. The schools are
WAY smaller than we are used to.
Our ward is small, with lots of old people. Pretty friendly.
Our primary is way small. They were thrilled when we walk in
with 6 new ones. I think we may have doubled their primary.
The YW's is good size, Mykala and Sarah made numbers 24 and 25.
So we will see what is in store for us here.
We will miss everyone in Arizona alot, but we are so excited to
be here and start a new adveture, new chapter in our book.
